Risk Governance Research in SAFE FOODS: Investigation of Institutional Challenges and Solutions to Systemic Risk Management

Dear trainee,

Welcome to this e-learning module on institutional challenges and solutions related to Risk Management practices. The information gathered in this module is based on the research activities and results generated by the SAFE FOODS risk governance experts from Workpackage 5.

The aims of this learning module are the following:

To give an introduction on the basic concepts of risk governance research and to demonstrate how political science experts can contribute to food safety

To give an overview of the current arrangements of food safety regulation in five EU Member States and at the European level

To show how the resulted theoretical concepts are transformed into practical guidelines for the improvement of Risk Management practices at EU and Member State level, while suggesting methods for dealing with transparency, stakeholder involvement and uncertainty.

We hope that this learning module will provide you with comprehensive background information on research about institutional challenges and solutions related to Risk Management practices.
